    Why this site exists

My name is Brad Leclerc, and I will be using this site to organize my thoughts and activities related to my online career. I will also be using it as a central location where people can find examples of my work, and my current contact information, always up to date.

I’m a geek, and so I will surely end up using this blog to rant from time to time about technology, science, law, and whatever funny or interesting things I find during my travels around the net.

    Biography

I grew up as a military brat, moving around a few times as a kid. Which probably contributed to my anti-social nature at least a little. I’ve always been into computers and technology in general, as well as learning new things. So when I first experienced the internet, it was a match made in heaven, so to speak. I instantly fell in love with the concept of information at my finger tips, and no longer being trapped by the physical limitations of living in a small town (I’m talking a pop of 500…tops), I found that there were actually a lot of people I have a lot in common with outside the very small circle of friends I had gathered.

I soon started participating in online forums and irc chat and such, and got hooked on the culture of the web.

I’ve held many jobs over the course of the last 10 years or so, from photojournalist, to call center supervisor, to legal gofer, to private investigator, and all sorts of other things. Through that time though, I was always active online, and that world has since been calling to me more and more to make it my career.

    Skills

I am familiar with several blogging platforms and Content Management Systems: including WordPress, Moveable Type, Drupal, Plone, and others. I also use all the major Operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux) and some of the more obscure ones (I’m getting pretty deep into Maemo thanks to my Nokia n810). I have a background in programming, but haven’t done any serious code in quite a well now, though I have been known to pick up a new language over a weekend or two, just to forget most of the language from lack of use over the months that follow. Being an OCD having computer geek has the major advantage of the ability to absorb information at insane rates…so long as I have something to do with that information right away.

As well as my tech skills, I have a mostly self-taught background in several scientific fields(mostly physics), certain areas of law, and an eclectic group of other skills and interests, such as Aikido and debunking the irrational of the world.

    Career

I have not been working online for long really, but I have written for several sites. Most recently tvgawker.com, which I’m currently in the process of starting a podcast for as well as writing.

I am available to do more writing and podcasting to increase my online presence. I’m looking to make a career of working online. Only time will tell if that will happen, but I’m going to give it a damn good shot.

    Testimonials

Brad Leclerc was the project manager for a variety of different successful projects for me while also contributing to various other projects. I have found him to be very creative, and able to pick up advanced concepts quite quickly. His passion for the online media, and his ability to search for needed information has made him an invaluable asset.
